Kimberly Washburn

She has been practicing yoga for 23 years. She is a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and did her initial 200-hour certification in 2001 in “Integrative Yoga Therapy for Healthcare Professionals” with Joseph LePage, emphasizing safety and alignment in the yoga asanas. Kimberly co-owned a small-town yoga studio for 20 years with a senior Iyengar teacher. We were the only yoga in town, and cultivating that awareness was a rich, rewarding experience. Having four children brought in a “Yoga Kids” certification, weekly teaching at the Montessori school (founded by Kimberly and her husband), and teaching for her older boys soccer teams and high school gym classes. In the early 2000s, Kimberly was attracted to Shiva Rea Prana Vinyasa retreats and teacher training because of her free creative flow movements tethered to a deep spirituality. She has attended retreats and trainings with Shiva worldwide, deepening her devotion to practice. Kimberly received her Prenatal Yoga certification from Shiva in 2008. She and her husband Steve (a retired Orthopedic Surgeon) moved full-time to Durango 3 years ago and blissfully jumped into the Sweaty Buddha community. I am honored now to begin giving back.
